NEWS CHILE: German company invests in several wind power projects.
Eolic Partners Chile have recently informed that they plan to invest around $300 million dollars to begin working on 2 wind farms in the Region IV; these farms would introduce a total of 148 MW to the Central Interconnected System. The CEO of the company said that “La Gorgona” and “El Pacifico” wind farms, of 76 MW and 72 MW respectively, were introduced to the Environmental Impact Evaluation System, and they are waiting for the final approval to begin working. He also mentioned that they are interested in increasing the number of their projects, and in order to do so, they are planning to invest in the Regions IV, V, and in the south of the country. He has been optimistic amid the global crisis, indicating that he does not consider that renewable energy, specially wind power, could be affected, since they “provide stability and security of energy supply”, adding that the wind is not subject to fluctuations in international markets, as other fossil sources.
