MEXICO: The firm “Eólica Santa Catarina” offers to provide public lighting through wind power

The municipality of Apodaca, Nuevo Leon, is planning an agreement with the company Eolica Santa Catarina to provide the public lighting through wind power generation.

The municipality mayor has been highly committed with this initiative because, if the final proposal is approved, the electricity obtained by wind power will bring a saving of 8 million pesos/year to the municipality.

In addition, the official added that the savings in energy will allow the entry of a significant flow of electricity to CFE, certainly with a reduced cost, and could be directed at strengthening social programs that counter the "lack of jobs and to support families in extreme necessity."

Currently, the Town Council unanimously approved the starting of formal negotiations with Eolica Santa Catarina, so that the firm presents the final proposal in short term.
