DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Starting a landmark case about commercialization of wind power produced in the country, through 2 new wind farms.

On February 17, the President of the Dominican Republic along with executives of the company Inveravante Dominicana made the opening for the construction of two wind farms by a historic act, since the launch of both farms is the beginning of a political commitment to diversifying the country's energy matrix and marketing of wind energy.

The construction of the two projects will represent a total investment of 136 million, and together will provide about 100 MW to the national electrical system. The first one is the Matafongo wind farm, located in the southern province of Peravia with 54 wind turbines. The other one is The Granadillo wind farm, located in the province of Montecristi, in the north. Each one will generate 50 MW; their construction and launching is planned for later this year.

The company in charge of the operation of these wind farms is the Spanish Inveravante Corporation, through its subsidiary Inveravante Dominicana. In a press release, the firm indicates that the investment being made in the country is part of a business strategy aimed at creating a big energy group that meets both the oil sector and the renewable sector.

It is important to mention that one of the advantages of these 100 MW is the reduction of around 188 thousand tons of carbon dioxide.
