NEWS MEXICO: Two municipalities in the state of Baja California will have their lighting supplied by wind power.
The state government of Baja California reported on the award for the construction of a wind farm, located in La Rumorosa. Turbo Power Services is the company who won the approval of the proposal submitted in the tender. This wind farm will generate 10 MW in its first stage of operation, produced by 5 GAMESA wind turbines, model G87. The investment proposal of Turbo Power Services amounts up to $ 26 million US dollars. It is worth mentioning that the companies who competed in the tender were: Acción Energia México, Empresa de Ingenieria Eléctrica y Control Instrumental, Empresa de Gestión Avanzada de Sistemas Integrados, Rumorosa WE2 and Turbo Power Services; being this last one, the winner. The beginning of the construction of the wind farm is expected for this month of March. The energy produced in "La Rumorosa" will be connected to the network of CFE, and then be redirected to the public lighting in the municipalities of Mexicali and Tijuana. That service is the result of an initiative between the state government of Baja California and the Federal Government, under a program that will report energy savings of 5% in the municipalities. It also will provide resources to support the family economy, and around 35 thousand families will be benefited.
