PERU: The OSINERGMIN will define the wind energy tariffs.

The Tariff Regulation manager of the Supervisory Board for Investment in Energy and Mining (OSINERGMIN) reported that within approximately four months, the rates of wind power generation will be defined.

However, this depends on the possible consultants applying in this opportunity, who meet the technical requirements of the agency, for determining a profitability assurance of 12%, stipulated in the Law of Electric Concessions.

The president of the Peruvian Renewable Energies Association suggested to amend the basis for selecting the consultant to determine the above premiums. He added that it is not necessary to carry out a complex study covering all renewable energies, but rather, is to reach a cost-simulation model to arrive in time for a planned auction of 500 MW in which wind energy is awarded a 5% stake.
