ARGENTINA: the province of Chubut will have the first wind turbines manufactured nationally.

These are two prototype wind turbines of 1.5 MW, developed and manufactured in parallel in the province of Chubut, by the companies IMPSA (Pescarmona group) and NRG Patagonia.

Both wind turbines will be installed in order to obtain relevant international certifications, and thus carry out the implementation of the proposed “Vientos de Patagonia” wind farm in the Patagonian province mentioned above.

“Vientos de Patagonia” wind farm, jointly possessed by the firms IMPSA and NRG Patagonia, provides a generating capacity of 60 MW of power through 40 wind turbines of 1.5 MW each. The investment amounts to U$S 120 million.

The government of the province of Chubut is pursuing a strong promotion, through concrete actions, leading to generate a total of 300 MW by the end of 2012. With this, they sought to open its market to business investment and local employment generation, which is reflected in a total investment amounting to U$S 600 million.
