MEXICO: Baja California bets strongly for wind projects.

The Government of the State of Baja California is very encouraging and in line with the results that are being obtained of promoting wind energy projects that are being developed in the territory.

First, with the construction of La Rumorosa I wind farm, they expect to open the scenario to more and new investments as well as generating new jobs. It should be remembered that this farm, which will be located on a 42 hectares of municipal land, will have a total generating capacity of 10 MW at an early stage, with five wind turbines of 2 MW each, equipment provided by the Spanish company Gamesa.

This wind farm has just entered in the circuit of "Clean Development Mechanism", promoted by the UN through the Office of Climate Change. This action aims to contribute to the commitment made by the highest authorities in Mexico under the Kyoto Protocol, which establishes measures for sustainable development, to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases emitted, preventing environmental pollution and, finally, to have concrete results that allow the income of resources by selling carbon credits, which is still pending.
