NEWS BRAZIL: The Spanish firm Endesa increasingly committed to having a position in the Brazilian wind energy sector.
The subsidiary of the Spanish company Endesa, Endesa Brazil, expressed during the "Renewable Energy Finance Forum" that was held recently in Rio de Janeiro, their interest to participate more actively in the wind energy sector of the local market. Although they have not yet clarified whether the firm will participate in the auction for wind energy to be held in late November this year, they expressed the importance they attach to the huge Brazil wind potential, currently estimated at 143 GW that could be extended to 300 GW by 2025, as reported by the Brazilian Wind Energy Association. Also, the Director of Development of Endesa Brazil referred to the great attraction that the wind energy sector offers for the short exploration time of this energy source, estimated in about 2 years, in addition to being the perfect complement to hydropower projects, which record low reserves in the dry season, when the winds begin to grow.
