The telecommunications company Digicel, through its Panama subsidiary, has recently made a strategic alliance with the Asian company BWE Power to operate a cellular base station using wind power.
This initiative includes the installation of a 10 KW wind generator, which will be placed on the telecommunications tower located in the community of “El Porvenir”, Kuna Yala.
With this, Digicel Panama reinforces a set of strategies for innovation that will allow reducing operation costs, while providing benefits to users of mobile communication and contribute to the environmental care.
Company executives are very interested in the success of this project because, in addition to advancing the goal of unrestricted access to electricity, this promotes business expansion plans to other Central American markets.
