7 concessions were granted for research in wind farms

On the past May 23rd, the Energy and Mines Minister (MEM) of Peru granted to “Iberoperuana Investments”, 7 temporal concessions for researches to prove the feasibility of generating power with wind farms in the country.

Being Spain the world leader on the development of wind power, is the main reason why Spanish companies related to this production are interested in investing in projects of this kind. This is the main reason why Peru has asked the Spanish company for his wind map, which is pretended to be finished in less than six months and whose results will be used so the big investors have the knowledge of the available wind power potential, and of the most appropriate zones for the construction and operation of wind farms and turbines.

For these studies, the concessionaire is forced to carry out the investigation following the technical and security rules, as well as taking care of the environment, and the compliance with its obligations under the Electric Concessions Law.

For this project, Iberoperuana will develop studies in the future wind farm Máncora, for an installed capacity of 100 MW, and in the future wind farm Vince, for an installed capacity of 80 MW.

He also won the temporary award for studies in the future wind farm Sand Pedro de Lloc, for an installed capacity of 100 MW, and in the future wind farm Nuevo Chimbote, for an installed capacity of 180 MW

Similarly, he will carry out studies in the future wind farm Vinchayal, located in the districts of La Brea, Vichayal and Colán, in Piura, for an installed capacity of 80 MW.

These seven temporary concessions join to the 12 that MEM has already given to different companies.
