A German company will develop 2 wind farms
The German company WIND 7AG has planned to develop 2 wind farms in Panama. One of them would be installed in Colón, and the other one in Bocas del Toro; this was announced on May 25th, due to the strategic alliance that the company has with the Panamanian company Wind Turbines Cerro Azul SA
These projects have contemplated to produce an installed capacity of 200 megawatts, the one in Colón, and 350 megawatts the one in Bocas del Toro, explained the engineer Antonio Clément, its impeller.
The wind farm of the Atlantic coast, which will cover the coastal area from Isla Colon to Palmas Bellas, will be constructed with an investment of $400 million dollars. The one in Bocas del Toro will have a cost of $700 millions, both funded by the German banking.
Clément, who is in charge of the mentioned projects, is only waiting for the Public Services Authority (ASEP) to give him the license to start the environmental impact studies. He also indicated that the energetic crisis that the country is facing could have been avoided, because the production of wind energy is the best support for the water plants.
“If in this summer that was intense, the wind farms would already been working, the reserves of Lago Bayano and Fortuna would be full”.
