Achieved the expectations of wind farm

Thanks to the encouragement that Cuba makes for alternative energy sources, it now enjoys such benefits. After the building and commencement of work 15 months ago of its small experimental wind farm located in Los Canarreos, in the northeast Island “de la Juventud”, has reduced its consumption of fossil fuels and also contribute in benefit of the environment.

The facilities avoided the consumption of about 500 tons of fuel oil for electricity generation. In addition, it has added the construction of a network of towers in order to assess the wind across Cuba, to subsequently install wind turbines in locations where the wind blows more effectively.

The goal of the Island “de la Juventud” is to reach 48 percent of its current electrical capacity with renewable energy.
