CHILE: Spanish Group and Chilean company will work to create the largest wind farm in Latin America.
The Spanish group ENHOL (Eólica Navarra) in partnership with Chilean company Talinay Wind will create the largest wind farm in Latin America, whose investment will be more than a billion dollars and will have a capacity of 500 MW.
This park will be implemented in three phases; the first phase will begin in 2009 and the last phase until 2011. It is worth mentioning that the plant will have 243 wind turbines of between 2 and 3 MW, to be built on a land of about 10,000 hectares, at a location near the city of Ovalle, north of the Chilean capital.
The same project also includes work plans concerning the construction of ground and air transmission lines; electrical substation, two landscape view points and a cultural center.
The project will be developed in Chile by Talinay Wind, owned by the Real Estate Finance and Group Talinay and Spanish Eólica Navarra (ENHOL), which is the majority shareholder. The park Talinay, besides increasing the supply of Renewables in Chile, will facilitate the hiring of local labor and generate wealth in the active area of the park.
The company ENHOL is a Spanish group that specializes in the development of renewable energies through the promotion, design, construction and operation of wind and solar plants, primarily to generate electricity and is present in 15 countries in Europe, Asia and America.
It is also important to mention that this project joins the first wind power plant in Aysen installed by the EDELAYSEN Company, which provides in its first phase 2 MW. Likewise, in the town of Canela, 450 km north of the capital, Endesa ECO built another wind farm with a capacity of 18.5 MW.
