Argentina: Request of $ 150 million pesos to develop wind farm.

It was announced last August 13th that the government of La Rioja ask the Argentina Nation $ 150 million pesos as financial backing, this to develop a wind farm which will work to solvent the agricultural activities in the North region of the province.

The person in charge of infrastructure in the province, announced the details of the project to build a wind farm in the area of “La Puerta” in the department of Arauco, a place considered one of the best for its high wind speeds with an average of 36 km per hour, making it feasible to develop wind projects.

It is worth mentioning that the minister accompanied other department officials from Arauco to take a tour around the strategic points of the future location of wind turbines and transformer plant of Aimogasta at the area of “La Puerta”. At the same time at the site are additional projected works to be implemented, like the power lines and the lifting of a transformer plant of 13 KW to be added to the one already existing in the region.

The wind farm will be located in a geographic triangle about 80 km from the capital La Rioja, up to 2 km from “La Puerta” before the diversion to Udpinango on the route to Aimogasta.

It is planned to have running the first turbine of the 46 scheduled to be installed at the site the coming year and is expected to add up to 150 equipments to help with an output of 300 MW, each turbine will take about 77 meters diameter and 80 meters high, with a capacity to generate a power base 2 MW of energy.
