MEXICO: Continues the building of a wind farm in Baja California.

The U.S. Company SEMPRA, continues with the construction of a wind farm in the vicinity of the communal land (“Ejido”) JACUMÉ; with this, the project will be developed on both sides of the border of Mexico and the United States and will produce 250 MW of energy.

This will begin with the wind farm in the vicinity of the Rumorosa and will have an initial cost of USD$ 400 million. However, the American company looks for the acquisition of the wind energy project in development “Energia Eolica Rumorosa”, to be implemented in conjunction with the company CANNON POWER from San Diego, California.

This way the wind farm could begin operations in the second half of 2010, therefore SEMPRA GENERATION who is a subsidiary of SEMPRA ENERGY will be in charge of the project. The region of “La Rumorosa” and Jacume are ideal for power generation development.

The Rumorosa Project will have 125 wind turbines installed along the mountains that are in the eastern part of the Sierra Juarez, 50 km from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.
