News CHILE: Investment of $ 300 million dollars in wind farm. With the outlook of building the largest wind farm in Chile, the company Ecopower will invest $300 million dollars, a wind farm which must operate by the end of 2009. The company belongs to the Chilean businessman named Julio Albarrán and his Swedish partner, Alfred Svenson. In November, Ecopower will carry out before the CONAMA, the environmental impact statement of the Windfarm “Ancud” project (at the region of Los Lagos). It is the aims to inject electricity to the SIC with a power of 140 MW. Within expectations, the construction of the park will begin in the first half of 2009 to start operations by the end of that year. Eventually, if there are no setbacks, the park would be the largest electricity generation through wind power, but will have a capacity lower than the project Talinay (500 MW). The CANAMA is evaluating several wind power projects with a summary over $1685 billion dollars, among are the projects of Canela II, Talinay and the mine Gaby from companies as SEAWIND, CODELCO and ENDESA.
