MEXICO; Announced construction of wind farm in Tecate.

In recent days, the governor of the state of Baja California announced the construction of a wind farm, which will be installed in La Rumorosa, in Tecate, and will need an investment over 250 million pesos.

Besides having an installed capacity of 10 MW, at an estimated annual production of 27 thousand MW hour, the wind farm will be installed in an area of 42 hectares, property of the government and could benefit more than 40 thousand families.

It was announced that the tender is the modality of “turnkey” for the installation of the turbines between 1.8 and 2.5 MW of capacity. Once the construction is finished, the government will launch the call for operation of the wind farm.

It is important to emphasize that the federal government participates in the Project with 50% of the investment; simultaneously, CFE and Secretary of Energy have collaborated to build the foundations.

The State government also envisages the construction of a solar energy plant of 30 MW and an hydroelectric plant at the exit of the Colorado River – Tijuana. Taken together, these 3 plants could reach a capacity of 100MW in less than 5 years.
