PERU; Regulations enacted to promote renewable energy are ready.

In recent days, the general director of electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) announced that the rules of the Law to Promote Electricity Generation through Renewable Energy are ready and could be published in the next few days.

In May, the executive published this policy, which declares of national interest the development of generation of electricity through the use of alternative sources.

The manager explained that the Ministry of Energy and Mines will establish that renewable energy must have a participation of 5% in the national electricity consuming during the first 5 years, and in the future could be increased by the same MEM.

He also stated that this law has as an objective to improve the quality of life of the population, besides protecting the environment and the promotion of investment in the production of electricity.

“The Premium is the complement to the rates that the Oversight Agency on Investment in Energy and Mines sets, plus an additional, which will allow the investor to have enough revenue to recover its investment”

Additionally, the manager mentioned that nationally, they have 34 wind projects with temporary concession, plus 13 hydroelectric projects with final grant, 11 of major power, and 23 with temporary concession.
