PANAMA; Spanish company will invest on wind farm.

On the past October 3rd, in Madrid, Spain, the company FERSA announced that they have obtained the last permits necessary for the construction and exploitation of the wind farm in Panama: Toabre, with power of 225 MW and an investment over 225 million Euros.

These facilities will provide the 9% of electricity consumed in Panama. The farm will be constructed in 2 phases and construction will begin in the second quarter of 2009. They have planned that by the end of 2010, the first phase will be already working and that in 2011 the second stage will begin.

The company has consolidated their project with ENRILEWS, who obtained the environmental license from the National Environment Authority (ANAM), the definite authorization of installation and exploitation granted by the Authority of Public Services (ASEP), and the connection to the transmission electric system of Panama. Therefore, this farm will be the first one to have the final permission from the authorities.

The estimated production could be 540.000 GW annually.
