HONDURAS: Wind Project could reduce electricity costs.

The agreement that was signed by the National Electric Power Company (ENEE) and the company Mesoamerica Energy, aims to generate 100 MW in a period between 24 and 36 months. It will consist on an investment of around 270 million dollars, after negotiations that were realized in recent days.

The contract covered the price of kilowatt per hour, same that could be lower than 10.75 cents to 10.3 cents, in addition to the installation of 60 turbines of 1.5 MW each.

The Project will be developed in the vicinity of Cerro del Hula and Izopo Mountain, in the municipalities of Santa Ana and San Buena Ventura.

The company Energía Eólica de Honduras (EEHSA), member of the Mesoamerica Energy group, pretends that the project becomes the biggest wind farm in Latin America, since it could have a capacity of 100MW. The farm will be connected to a transmission line of 230 KW between the substations Suyapa in Tegucigalpa and Pavana in the south.
