Dominican Republic: Installed in Samaná the first wind energy generator for commercial use

The first wind energy generator for commercial use at the Dominican Republic was installed in the municipal county of “Las Galeras”, province of Samaná. The energy entrepreneur, José Oscar Orsini Bosch, pointed out that the new clean energy generator will produce immediately 20 thousand kilowatts hour per month, which represents 15 percent of the energy demand of the tourist community of “Las Galeras”.

The project is the first of four 60KW generators that should be in operation for June 2008 and three 275KW generators that should be operating in the middle of 2009.

Ecuador: The first wind farm was inaugurated

Ecuador began to use wind energy through a generation farm located in the "Galápagos" Islands. It will help to reduce the fossil fuels consumption in such a fragile ecosystem as this archipelago. The wind farm is located in the “San Cristobal” island and it has a capacity to produce 2.400 kilowatts of electricity.

This project to produce wind energy was boosted by the Ecuadorian government in alliance with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the e8 organization.

Chile: Chamber of deputies approves use of renewable energy

For a wide majority of 78 votes to favor and 22 abstentions the Chamber of Deputies approved the modifications to the general law of Electric Services for the use of not conventional renewable energy, project that forces to the companies of electric services to dedicate 5% of its production to generate alternative means, as wind energy, solar, geothermal or biomass, among others.

The president of the commission of Mining and Energy, Francisco Encina, affirmed: "This is an efficient way of diversifying our energy matrix and it will help to substitute the absence of the Argentinean natural gas".

Argentina: Germans entrepreneur analyze to carry out tests in wind energy

A group of German entrepreneurs visited the city of Comodoro Rivadavia and they held meetings with local entrepreneurs and the "Sociedad Cooperativa Popular Limitada", where the wind energy potential of this region was analyzed. The officials and local entrepreneurs highlighted the initiative of the foreign visitors of carrying out some laboratory tests in the region with prototypes that are being developed in Europe, with the expectation of having for the medium term ideal equipment for the region.

Venezuela: Energetic revolution placed 15 million of saver bulbs

The second phase of the "Mission Energetic Revolution" finished, after the placement of more than 15 millions 364 thousand of saver bulbs in commercial, educational and sanitary establishments of all Venezuela, overcoming in 32 thousand units the initially outlined objective.

This project also involves, the development of the program " Autogas " (gas for vehicles), the production of solar panels (photovoltaic systems), the development of farms for wind generation, the application of norms of energy efficiency and the execution of campaigns to reach the big consumers make an efficient energy use.

Cuba: About to conclude wind farm

The construction of the biggest wind farm that is built in the oriental Cuban province of Holguín, is about to conclude for the generation of 5,1 megawatts that will be given to the national energy system.

According to carried out calculations there is a very important future for Cuba in wind energy, which will facilitate the installation of hundreds of megawatts in next years. Also, directives and experts of German companies of connoted international prestige, established contacts with Cuban homologous entities, specialized in the development and use of new ways of renewable energy.
