Panama: French bank will finance wind energy in Panama

The French bank, Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking (Socgen) will finance with 150 million dollars the construction of a wind farm in Panama, that will generate 81 megawatts of energy in its first stage.

The French bank signed an agreement with the Panamanian company Santa Fe Energy S.A., for the construction of the wind farm.

In an official statement, the financial entity indicated that “the wind farm will produce clean energy, according with the world climatological necessities and saving to Panama foreign currencies for the import of fossil fuel."

The wind farm will be erected in the community of Santa Fe of Veraguas, in the central county of Veraguas.

Chile: Ggovernment launches guides for wind energy and biomass projects

The minister for the environment Ana Lya Uriarte and the energy minister Marcelo Tokman, launched in last days two guides to support the environmental procedure for energy generation projects by means of the use of the wind resource and biomass.

The initiative looks to facilitate the knowledge of the non conventional renewable energy (NCRE) to the entrepreneurs which want to invest in it. In this work are involved the commissions of environment and energy, the Agency of Chilean-German Intergovernmental Cooperation and the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ).

Minister Tokman pointed out, that “the scarce local practical experience in the environmental evaluation of this kind of projects, motivated us to elaborate these guides, which we wait will constitute operative instruments that contribute, as much to the private sector as to the public services, to guide the processes of environmental evaluation"

Mexico: Lack of turbines for energy generation

In front of the imminent lack of petroleum at world level, which is considered will be enough just for 30 years, the business of the future will be the renewable energy; it means, to generate electricity with the help of wind and sun, at competitive prices.

At the moment, the market of technological equipment (turbines) for the generation of all type of energy is full, pointed out the general director of General Electric Energy, Giovanni Aloi Timeus. "We and our competence have capacity, but not for new projects in the short term, just for 2010."

In front of that, he said the Federal Commission of Electricity (CFE) knows how the market of technological equipment is, for what any project or bid for energy generation, have to be very well planned.

Latin America - Mexico: WIND EXPO LAWEA – GUADALAJARA 2008 has a date.

In recent days and due to the growing demand for carrying out events in the wind and renewable energy sector in Latin America, the team of LAWEA took the decision of carrying out its first Wind and Renewable Energy Conference and Exhibition, WIND EXPO LAWEA - Guadalajara, Mx. 2008, which will be held from 5 to 7 November next year.

We consider the dynamics that is showing the renewable energy industry, specially the wind energy, makes this the right moment to organize a Latin American event of world class, which could pull together the main characters of this industry and at the same time contributing to make important advances in the Renewables development in this region.

Dominican Republic: 5 VESTAS NM71 wind turbines for sale

The turbines are located in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from the middle of this year (2007) are brand new, because are part of a wind farm project that been cancelled, but the units was on the way to the Country.

The units are located on a safe storage created for this equipment, all the equipment is supervised by their owners and VESTAS Technicians, all the generators are energized to avoid future problems with this equipment.
