MEXICO; Pilot Tests for Wind Power are being held in Jalisco.

The head of the Secretariat of the Environment for Sustainable Development of the Jalisco State, M.S. Martha Ruth del Toro, in recent days indicated that in the municipalities of Ciudad Guzman, Ojuelos, Lagos de Moreno and Mazamitla are being tested for wind power generation.

The official said that so far the studies have been favorable and that could be used initially to supply the lighting for some communities. These statements were made by the officer in the interview conducted at the Wind Energy Exhibition WIND EXPO 2008, at Expo Guadalajara.

On the other hand, the president of the Latin American Wind Energy Association said that in Mexico there is great potential to tap this resource, and its advantage is that right now is a profitable technology, and has no emission of pollutants and wastes into the atmosphere.
