CHILE: Canela II wind farm operational

The project was developed by Endesa Eco, branch of Endesa in Chile. With 40 wind turbines, this new phase extends in 60 MW the nominal power of Canela I that, since the end of 2007, operates with a power of 18.15 MW. At the moment, a total of 1,500 MW of wind power are in construction in Chile.

The new wind park will avoid 90 thousand tons of CO2 emission per year. The construction began in February 2009 with the installation of 40 new wind turbines of 1.5 MW each, in an area of 1,080 hectares, in the region of Coquimbo.

Endesa Eco, branch of Endesa in Chile was set up in 2005 and operates exclusively to promote and develop renewable projects like mini hydraulic, eolic, geothermal, solar and biomass.

Besides the Canela wind park, it operates the mini hydraulic power station of Ojos de Agua, and is projecting the mini hydraulic power station in Piruquina.
