ARGENTINA: The state will contribute around U$S 25 million to the Arauco I wind park

In its final phase, the park will have an installed capacity of 25.2 MW. The Ministry of Federal Planning, Public Investment and Services of the Nation will finance part of this park, which will be located in the province of La Rioja. The agreement - signed by the Governor of the province and the Minister of Federal Planning, was also subscribed by ENARSA (Energía Argentina Sociedad Anónima) and the Secretariat of Energy of the Nation.

The Arauco I Eolic Project consists in the production and development of eolic energy in an area with the same name, situated 90 kilometers of La Rioja city and its construction is divided in 2 stages.

Stage I consists of the construction of a pilot wind park, by installing a 2.1 MW wind turbine. The electrical energy generated in this pilot stage will allow the pumping of irrigation water for 2,000 hectares of olive trees. The investment at this stage is of around U$S 3 million.

In Stage II the eolic park will be expanded by installing 11 wind turbines for a total power of 25.2 MW. The investment for this stage is of around U$S 63 million.
