MEXICO: DYNKO announced the availability of turbines for the second quarter of 2008

DYNAMIK KONTROLL announced that they will have Class II Wind Turbines with a capacity of 2 megawatts for sale in Mexico and most of the countries in Latin America, available on the second quarter of 2008, which is perhaps the shortest delivery time for a wind turbine that is requested today.

With this announcement, DYNAMIC KONTROLL expects to be consolidated as a major player in the wind power sector in Latin America, and place itself as a Mexican firm leader in the manufacture and marketing of turbines in this part of the world.

ARGENTINA: The Eolis project will be extended until the year 2017

The high-power turbine project EOLIS, that INVAP will boost, is going to be developed through 10 years, between 2007 and 2017, and will be scheduling in 4 phases, with a total cost of 13.300.000 dollars.

On august, 2005, the Ministry of Production assumed the responsibility for setting the provincial plan for the use and production of alternative energies, after which the Argentinean Wind Atlas was created, created and managed by the Regional Center for Wind Energy in Chubut.

Rio Negro based on the data obtained from 20 and 40 meters height anemometric antennas. After several studies, the introduction of the Wind Atlas of Rio Negro took place in Viedma, on May 24th, 2006.

INVAP created the company EOLIS (INVAP Wind) to develop and to commercialize generators of different power and hybrid systems (wind-diesel) and currently produces and sells a high-power turbine (15 MW), as part of a plan to produce turbines with mainly national components.

BRAZIL: Elecnor Wind Farm in Osorio obtains environmental license for second phase

After one year of operation, the Wind Farm of Osorio, the biggest in Latin America, has received the environmental license to double its energy production capacity.

The granting of the license is the first step towards extending this project in the state of Rio Grande, operated by the company Ventos do Sul Energy.

The project, which was successfully completed in December 2006, within the deadline, and is located in Osorio, about 80 kilometers from Porto Alegre, has exceeded the projections, with an output of 515 million kilowatt-hour.

The Environmental Protection State Foundation (FEPAM) has just granted the license for the development of a second phase.

Osorio’s Wind Farm is actually a complex of three farms – Osorio, Sangradouro and Indios -, consisting of 25 wind power turbines of 2 megawatts each. With an installed power of 150 megawatts, the wind farms of Osorio are still just a sample of the use that wind energy could have in Brazil.

The wind farm was an investment of 670 million reales (Brazilian money) and it can produce enough energy to cover the residential use of 650.000 people in a year.

In one year, Osorio’s wind farms prevented the emissions of 148.325 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, the annual consumption of 36.500 tons of oil and 41.2 million cubic meters of natural gas.

ARGENTINA: The creation of a big wind farm for Puerto Madryn was announced

The creation of a future wind farm in Puerto Madryn was announced by the holder of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the local municipality, Raul Arranz, in the framework of his formal speech at the “System to Combat Fires for Heritage of Humanity in Valdés Peninsula”.

The city already has around 400 acres destined to the installation of a wind farm, and manages to do so with the help of the Provincial Government, who is searching for investors interested on this kind of production.

The intention would be that a percentage of the kilowatts produced by this plant, are handed to the city as a fee for its use in the tasks that are undertaken to assist the environmental impact of sanitation.

The future wind farm in Puerto Madryn will be installed less than five kilometers far from the National Interconnected Electric System’s processing plant, on the National Route 3, so investors will have the opportunity to sell their energy and incorporate it to this system without the need to spend in an extensive network that connects his producing station to the largest investment network of transportation of electricity to its outlet.

ARGENTINA: The first two wind turbines arrived to Entre Rios.

Two of the 13 wind energy turbines that were acquired by the Energy State Company arrived to the provincial capital to be installed near the rural schools that do not receive electricity from the Federal Departments. The purpose of the equipment is to provide these places a clean and renewable energy resource from the winds in this area.

The owner of Enersa, Carlos Molina, said that the 11 remaining turbines will arrive through the course of the week.

He also said that the State Company acquired 13 wind turbines and 3 high-technology generators that will provide energy and will work associated with a main generator that will be in charge of maintaining the service when the winds are not enough to provide energy for the schools that are out of range of the lines of the energy distributor.

This combination will cause the optimization both in the service and the cost of the generation, which will help schools so that they can, with low budget, have a permanent service of 2000[W].

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Announcement of new systems to create electricity at low cost

The president of the National Commission of Energy, Arístides Fernández Zucco, announced new alternative ways to save electricity at low costs and thus reduce the impact of oil bill in the Dominican economy.

The president of this country, Leonel Fernández, has given concessions for two wind energy projects totaling around 215 megawatts, plus a solar energy plant of 50 megawatts, both of them in the implementation process.

He pointed out: “In wind energy, 50 megawatts are being developed in Baní and in Montecristi, and 115 megawatts in Puerto Plata as well. There is also a pilot project for 9 megawatts in the province of Pedernales”.

The president of the National Commission of Energy said that during this week, they will make a National Plan for Energy Saving and Efficiency.
