The wind farm is located in the zone called La Puerta, in Arauco, La rioja. The turbines will be installed in this place, and the energy matrix of the region will increase to 25 MW.

The first turbine has already been acquired; however, 11 more turbines of 2 MW have been agreed with the government, and it is expected that they are installed during the next year, along with other projects that will benefit various sectors of the society.

The proposal has included studies that will indicate the location of the machines, the provision of equipment, installation, construction of roads, connection to the high-tension line near the farm, monitoring of machines, operations, and maintenance for 5 years, as well as training the staff to operate.

For the second phase of the Project, IMPSA presented an offer with a budget of 255’805,698 Argentinean pesos.

It was reported that the company calculated individually for each of the proposed additions, so that all expenditures were agglomerated in the proposal offered. It is estimated that the construction of all the items is about 21 months.

The Minister of Infrastructure revealed that in the first phase, they purchased a turbine that will generate 2MW and will be installed between April and May of 2010, in the area of La Puerta del Valle, near Aimogasta; but for this second phase they will add 11 more wind turbines and electrical infrastructure up, aiming to get a generation of 25 MW that will be supplied to the National Interconnected System.

The head of the ministry indicated that this project not only benefits the industrial sector, but the whole population.
