News CHILE; Company ENEL announces big investment for renewable energies in Latin America.
Pilar, Prov. de Buenos Aires On December 1st, at a press conference held in Santiago, Chile, the Italian company ENEL announced that they will invest 1.090 million Euros in Latin America on a continuous basis until 2012; this announcement was made during a conference of geothermal energy held in the South American country. It is important to note that the company is currently developing wind projects in Brazil and Mexico, while they are developing geothermal projects in El Salvador, Nicaragua and Chile. ENEL is likely to continue developing geothermal projects in Chile through joint ventures with the state oil company ENAP, although it was mentioned that if the state refuses to continue, the company would implement projects on an individual basis.
