In Parnaíba, the inauguration of the first wind farm in Piaui was stipulated for December 20. The project is owned by a private company with a budget of 108 million `reales´ and started being installed on last August. The wind farm is located in an area of 540 hectares on the beach of Pedra do Sal.

In an interview, the engineer responsible for the construction informed that this wind farm will have the capacity to generate 18MW starting on this month of December, ensuring that the supply of the city of Parnaíba will be improved, because the winds of this area are frequent.

It is also important to stress that this project has the support of the federal government through the Program of Incentive for Alternative Sources (PROINFA).
